In September, over 60 airport workers, janitors, security officers and other Property Services members met in Dallas to participate in the National Airports Member Brigade training. Over the course of the training, members learned how to successfully organize workers before they headed out to airports across the country to put what they have learned into action.

During the first three days of the training, members honed their abilities to identify and mobilize workers to action, including channeling their creativity to create TikToks that will help organize workers online.

On the last day of the training, members gathered at American Airlines’ headquarters in Dallas for a rally before setting out to Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW) to talk with nonunion workers. Members spoke to the power of organizing and helped DFW workers envision a future where every airport worker is respected, protected and paid.

“Standing united with my coworkers in our union is the reason I have better wages at DEN. I stand with airport workers everywhere in demanding that airport jobs are good jobs with fair wages.” -Worke Berhanu, Janitor at Denver International Airport

After a successful start to the brigade program, members headed out to airports nationwide, including Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and Charlotte International Airport, to help us surpass our goal of organizing 100,000 airport workers!
